Doom Eternal is surprisingly big on aesthetic customization. These are the best skins you can get for the Doom Slayer, and how to get them.
One immediate difference between Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal is the customization. Players could modify their multiplayer character in 2016, but it was not possible to customize the Doom Slayer himself until Eternal introduced the feature.

There are no skins locked behind in-game microtransactions, although quite a few skins are tied to Twitch Prime offers that are no longer available. If you see a player running around with a golden suit, you know they worked hard for it. No matter your skill level, there are plenty of skins for you to unlock through challenges both in and out of the campaign. Here are the ten best Doom Slayer skins in Doom Eternal and how you unlock them.

10 Doomicorn

A menacing appearance is important for showing enemies you mean business. What could be more menacing than the Doom Slayer's default skin? The Doomicorn, of course! Sprout your pink wings and magical horn with this majestic take on the Doom Slayer's new look.
As of writing this, the Doomicorn skin is currently unavailable. It was originally obtained from a Twitch Prime bundle when the game first released. No one knows when it'll return. Keep an eye out for a mini-season or a potential Twitch Prime pack that could bring this skin back.
9 Mullet Slayer

In terms of cheesy skins, Mullet Slayer takes the cake as Doom Eternal's best skin. This skin depicts the Slayer as an out-of-shape force of destruction, striking fear into all demons through a ridiculous mullet and a noticeable beer gut. The "Extra Thicc" label on his shirt really sells it.
Unfortunately, there is no way to get this skin currently. It was originally available as a Twitch Prime bundle with no in-game way of earning it. Hopefully, the mullet-wearing Slayer of legend will return at some point in the future.
8 Praetor Suit

As sharp as the new suit looks, there's something about 2016's Praetor Suit that exudes a feeling of pure rage. The menacing glare and bully armor are nothing short of terrifying. Fortunately, it seems id Software are also fans of the Praetor suit as it's returned in Doom Eternal.

Obtaining this skin is rather straightforward. With two Sentinel Batteries, make your way to the right-most tower outside of the Fortress of Doom. Insert both batteries into the tower to unlock a room containing this skin.
7 Barbarian Gold

What could top the incredible Barbarian skin from TAG2? The Barbarian Gold variant, giving the Doom Slayer some bling to go with his primal appearance. Compared to the Gold skin obtained from an Ultra Nightmare run, the Barbarian Gold skin's gold is much less prominent—fitting for how simple the Barbarian skin is by itself. Disregarding the absurdity of the skin itself. Barbarian Gold is surprisingly good-looking.
Unlocking this skin will require you to earn the "Live Die Reloaded" achievement from TAG2. This requires you to complete the TAG2 DLC with Extra Life Mode enabled, completing the campaign with at least 5 Extra Lives by the end. Thanks to how powerful the Sentinel Hammer is in this DLC, most players should be able to unlock this fashionable skin without too many attempts.
6 Classic Doom Marine

Fans of the older Doom titles will be pleased to know that you can use original Doomguy armor as a skin for the Doom Slayer, complete with the green combat armor and blocky helmet fans have grown attached to.
Inside of the Fortress of Doom, head to the back room filled with locked doors. At the top of that room will contain a single door that stores the Classic Doomguy's armor. As with all rooms here, you will need two Sentinel Batteries to unlock this skin. It might sound strange that the Doom Slayer has the Doomguy's suit, but playing through the campaign explains this nod to the classic character.
5 Ember

Some would call the Doom Slayer a hot head for how he punches first and asks questions later, but this next skin literally lights his head aflame. Known as Ember, this skin gives the Doom Slayer a burning head and a dark-grey combat suit.
The Ember skin was originally obtained by reaching rank 10 in the Series 1 pass that launched with Doom Eternal. Id Software started a mini-event named ICYMI: Series 1 that allowed newer players to earn the Ember skin themselves.
4 Zombie Slayer

Considering the newest entry is titled Doom Eternal, having the Slayer also be eternal seems fitting. This skin depicts a decaying Doom Slayer who continues the war against Hell, even if his body has seen better days. Just because Doom is eternal doesn't mean the Doom Slayer can't be.

Obtaining this skin is easier than most on this list. You will need to sign up for the Slayers Club, which requires a Bethesda.net account. Unlike Twitch Prime skins, this process is completely free. You can sign up for the Slayers Club here.
3 Gold

If you find someone wearing this skin, be prepared to face against a master of Doom Eternal's combat. Slayers in Battlemode with the Gold skin mean business and will prove to be a formidable opponent.
This is because the Gold skin requires you to beat the main campaign on Ultra-Nightmare difficulty. Yes, the same difficulty that makes demons especially deadly and gives you one life. Excluding the Saving Throw Rune (which only works once), a single death will send you back to the start of the campaign. You can't use cheat codes either. Good luck.
2 Phobos

Phobos may not be as flashy as Gold, but it certainly looks beautiful. This skin is also much easier to get compared to Gold and arguably looks better.
Extra lives are the name of the game for Phobos, unlocking for players when they complete the campaign on Extra Life Mode with ten or more extra lives. The difficulty you complete Extra Life Mode on doesn't matter, meaning that players of any skill level can attempt to earn this skin. Master the dance of Doom Eternal, make use of all your weapon mods, and never stop moving.
1 Skull Face

If gold isn't your style, look no further than the Skull Face skin. The Doom Slayer dons a red suit and a demonic helmet with silver horns and sharp teeth. Intimidating demons has never been easier.
Earning this skin isn't easy. You'll need to beat TAG2's campaign on Ultra-Nightmare difficulty. While many Doom fans agree that TAG2 is easier than TAG1 and the main campaign, beating this DLC with one life is still a remarkable feat of skill. You'll have to become a black belt at slaying demons if you hope to earn this skin.
